Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Had a delicious Roast beef sandwich and a Guinness, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great!

A place to get a quick sit down meal at a reasonable price. Not only the famous slaw and fries on a sandwich but regular entrees comparable to a pizza joint. Next to a hotel so parking at peak hours may come hard to find. If your looking for elegance not here a real steel city blue collar joint. Oh and appetizers like the nachos are awesome but huge so bring a big appetite.

What a nice lunch experience! I have been to this location before, but not in several years. Initially when I sat down and asked our waiter, "Why is the tuna sandwich not on the menu" and he said, "Oh they actually discontinued that", I thought my Primanti's experience was forever ruined. Glad I was wrong. Since I am a vegetarian that only eats fish occassionally, I was forced to order the Giant Fish Sandwich. Happy accident indeed. It was perfect! In the true Primanti's style it was an extremely generous portion with their authentic italian bread and the best and tangiest coleslaw ever. The fries were cooked just as I remembered them, slightly crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. We were able to sit outside on their patio which had plenty of seating and was comfortable, even though all the tables are pub height. Also, no longer is Primanti's from my youth just sandwiches; they have a full menu....pizza, wings, apps, etc. It also lists that during the week they have great happy hour specials on both food and drink. The best part of the experience was our waiter. I thought his name was Paul but on the receipt it said Brandon. He was just a real gentleman and so polite and friendly. Kudos to him. He also said they are expanding south and a new location will be opening in Maryland. Hopefully they keep coming and end up in NC too! A sandwich, salad, slice of pizza and two wines and of course a generous tip and the bill was still under $30 for two. Excellent.

According to my son, who suggested we go here, this is the way to eat a sandwich in the Pittsburgh area. The sandwiches are a scant amount of meat and cheese with a fist full of French fries between two very thick slices of white bread. My husband and son each ordered one, I had the 9 inch pizza. We were not impressed. The fries were lifeless and the meat was minimal. My pizza was literally tasteless. I ate the toppings and left the crust. Perhaps if we had better service (we had to wave her down to get refills) and the filthy tables surrounding us had been bussed our experience may have been better.
(2)Jeff W.
Most everything was fine, except the bread was not fresh, which was disappointing. Aside from taking our order, delivering the food and the the bill, our server was nowhere to be found. He was friendly but not available when we needed him. Try the lamb gyro with slaw.

I read all over google that Primanti brothers sandwiches is a Pittsburgh must. I was impressed with the amount of food/price, however I did not really like the taste of the sandwich. The coleslaw was too vinegary... It overpowered the other ingredients. I like the concept of stuffing a sandwich with many random ingredients as possible... But the sandwich was missing some kind of sauce to gel the ingredients together---the sandwich was very dry. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But I was not impressed.

This place was recommended by a co worker who used to live here knowing that I would be in the area. From what I understand this small local chain is a Pittsburgh area institution. For lunch I had the black angus steak sandwich last week which the waitress recommended. It was the most expensive of their famous sandwiches but still under $10 from what I remember. Value wise it's a very good deal. First of all there is no denying it that the sandwiches are large. They really are big enough to share especially if both diners are not big eaters. The sandwiches consist of a lot of food between the buns and the buns are quite large. If you are trying to avoid bread, don't come here!! I thought the sandwich was good and filling. It was the kind of sandwich that I enjoyed but would not eat frequently. For one reason it must have a ton of calories but also I just thought it was a little too much. The taste was good but only a 3. The fries were good and I rated them at a (3.5). For Yelp purposes I give the overall experience as a 3. I am glad I had the sandwich and would order it again however since I don't live here and would only return maybe once a year for business next time I would try another restaurant.

Waited five minutes for hostess to tell us they were understaffed. We were told it was a ten minute wait for a table when the restaurant was 3/4s empty. That was 25 minutes ago... left

This is a definite must go if you are from out out of town.Everyone just everyone has to experience a Primanti's Brother's sandwich. {A sandwich/sub with cole slaw and french fries on it.} I know to people that hasn't yet tried one it doesn't exactly sound like a delicious sandwich. But once you've had one.You will definitely become addicted. We were so happy they opened up a spot when the Pirate's baseball stadium was build. It is a tradition for our entire family to order one every time we go to a baseball game.Which is quite often because we are season ticket holders.I always get the Italian. And it is absolutely delicious.I give them FIVE stars!!!
(5)Jeff W.
A local favorite, they never disappoint for good food at reasonable prices. My only recommendation is that they need long tables to better accommodate large groups. The tiny tables pushed together leaves no room to eat, move or do anything. Miss the balloon folks during family night.
(4)Nick C.
Our Sandwiches were incredible. Love this place! Always order double meat, the portions are perfect. Great beer IC Lite! We will be back.

I really wanted to love Primanti's bc when you're an out of towner or a transplant, it seems the first food thing you think of when you hear of Pittsburgh is the Primanti sandwich, and I do love their sandwich, but it's not something I would crave all the time. My fave sandwich here is the capicola and cheese with egg. Sometimes, I get the coleslaw on the side bc then it can be too much. I think certain sandwiches are better than others on their menu, but the capicola will never fail you. Add a little of that red devil hot sauce and you will not put that sandwich down. I also like that they have a fish sandwich. My father in law said it was good. It looked like a huge portion too. I have yet to try it. Their onion rings are also good and they have a good deal for happy hour. Couple disappinting things: the women's bathroom is not always tidy; we had to wait a few times here even when it isn't packed or when it is earlier in the day. I just don't know where the servers go; for a sports bar, I was expecting the wings to be good, but it is not. I don't even recommend getting it here. Stick to the sandwich and you'll have a good eating experience.
(3)Will S.
I'm not sure how this place has good reviews. I travel the world eating at good and bad restaurants for almost every meal. Take into account I did not order any drinks, but based on the food and service it was below average, no doubt about it. The coleslaw has too much vinegar and about zero taste involved. If you are looking for typical bar food, this is the place to be. If you think it is different or looking for some good food, not the spot to go.
(2)Aaron Z.
We went here for lunch today with a couple of coworkers. Primantis is a decent place for groups and they have a really great and unique sandwich selection! I typically get the capicola, and for those not familiar with the Primantis all sandwiches come with cole slaw and fries on them. Sandwiches are very filling and not too bad for the price. They also have really good pizza by the slice if you want something extra. Primantis is a decent entertaining place for a casual meal. They have a decent bar as well and typically have specials for Pirate/Steeler/Penguin games. Definitely a great place to go if you are visiting Pittsburgh.
(4)Kristen W.
A gigantic handheld meal (including fries) for under $7? Yes you read that right! That's what you are going to get here at the well-known Primanti brothers. It only seemed right to stop here instead of some fast food joint to fuel up when on a recent road trip. Large sandwiches are the thing here so don't waste your time with anything else. I had the corned beef panini, it came out on a huge plate and was even bigger than I imagined. Could the corned beef be a little more flavorful and the fries on the sandwich a little more cooked, yes. But this massive sandwich topped with fries and held together between thick fluffy bread was about as good as it gets for the price.
(4)Jim H.
The chili cheese fries were fantastic. They serve up large sandwiches at very reasonable prices. The addition of some great sauces would add flavor and earn them a 5th star in my rating. (We went with the Pittsburgh and Black Angus sandwiches.
(4)Zack H.
Pittsburgh, for a foodie's standpoint, is known for one restaurant and one restaurant only: this place. This is the best location for anybody traveling, as you don't have to enter the city or go far off the freeways in the area. My friend is a local and he recommended the capicola with a fried egg on top. It was amazing. Messy, but amazing. Well worth the drive.
(4)Ray N.
Awesome food! Great atmosphere! And wonderful service. We sat at the bar it was very casual not too loud and the food was incredible. Try the sandwiches. it's a must
(5)William E.
Had a corned beef with double egg sandwich and washed it down with a couple of ICE cold Molsons. Hard to beat this combination. One note: You guys need to install a heat lamp or something over the door to the outside seating / smoking area. If you are sitting at the bar with your back to that area every time that door opens I was getting hit by a blast of cold air.

Primanti Brothers is the Man v. Food chain of the Burgh. Yes, the sandwiches are huge, but in case you're still hungry after all that white bread, cheese, cole slaw, meat and potatoes, you can get a slice of pizza to go with! They sell pizza, wings, those huge sandwiches, salads with French fries in them, etc. etc. But you can eat (kinda) healthy here - just check the fine print. This Primanti's has an arcade in the front, with skee-ball and impossible to win claw games, to hold you while you wait. Our wait was maybe 15 minutes on a busy Friday night, and they send a text when the table is ready. The spouse ordered a big sandwich, our companions had pizza, and I had grilled chicken. They know the needs of their customers, so everything is in place - napkin dispensers, a choice of hot sauces, etc. Our server was well-timed and friendly. Definitely the place to carb-load before a race, or just stuff your face.
(3)Alyssa R.
The service was great. The bartender was very nice and helped suggest a great beer. However this doesn't compare to the city locations. I got a cap and cheese and there was hardly any slaw on the sandwich. I shouldn't be able to fit a cap and cheese in mouth so easily! Not as good as the older restaurants but still not a bad place to eat.
(3)Kadie H.
I love Primantis, as does my family. My toddler loves eating and playing in their arcade. waitress have us wrong drinks and my toddler received coke. our mozzerella sticks were so overdone there wasn't any cheese in them. we asked them to redo so she charged us both she made comments about my size and my marriage manager thought it was funny I love primantis but my family and I silk never come back
(1)Steven C.
Sandwiches are great and affordable. They also give kids a great "coloring packet" to include crayons, a wet nap, and graham crackers. However, I must say the kids pizza is awful. Tastes and looks like one of those Totino's frozen pizzas you get for a buck at the local grocery.

Being from a city that's notorious for city-specific cuisine, I was intent on trying something authentically "Pittsburghian"..."Pittsburghan?"...something that just says "PITTSBURGH." Obviously, Primanit Bros was pointed out. After my third trip to the city, I finally got the try it out. Firstly, I was surprised it was a restaurant chain that could be found in the 'burbs. Not sure why this struck me as odd, but I digress. Our waiter was very excited to find out this was my first time at Primanti's. He was quite friendly and gave me the rundown of the menu. I settled on the sirloin steak with my sandwich. My verdict? My favorite part of the meal was the spicy fried pickles. Don't roll your eyes. It was REALLY fantastic. The sandwich on the other hand was not bad. It was pretty thick and I added a fried egg to my sandwich. It's something I can see myself eating again from time to time but my primary complain is that the sandwich was too dry. It needed some kind of sauce or dressing... the cole slaw just wasn't cutting it. Sorry, Steelers Nation.

So for my 200th review it looks like it is going to be Primanti Brothers. Of course, I am more familiar with the original location in Pittsburgh's strip district than this store, but this location has become my go to destination during the holidays. This one is bigger than the original and lacks the classic character of my favorite Primantis but it still serves up the most delicious, hearty sandwich any foodie could ever hope to devour. I personally love a steak and cheese with extra cheese and an egg. This combination is so yummy that it makes my head spin; however, a key feature to this concoction is that the egg needs to be sunny side up so that the yolk melds with the beef. For some reason, this location fried the hell out of the egg so that it tasted like yolky cardboard Well, in any event, it is still Primantis and it is still pretty good, but this location just doesn't measure up to the original. Now, don't get me wrong, it does have an excellent game room, tons of space, and passable sandwiches. However, in the end, it just doesn't have the atmosphere of the original. No, this one is sort of like touring a Bush Gardens or Disney world representation of Europe--it looks right, but you still realize Germany is thousands of miles away. This is not to say that this Primantis doesn't have its own flavor: Last Christmas, our waiter was dressed as an elf, which was a bit disturbing, something about having my sandwich served up by a guy in green tights is just a little off putting. Perhaps there were some complaints, because this year I didn't see the sandwich slinging elf. Of course, he may have had a better offer from Keebler, but the most important issue is that this year my Primantis Holiday experience was a little less weird.

I like this place better than the orignal one. Everyone always friends and food always good.

Until now I have classified myself as an Atheist. And then I met the sandwich God, his name is Primanti. Corned beef, vinegar based slaw, provolone, and French fries crammed between homemade bread. Gooey goodness running down your arms. All washed down with a cold Stella. I'm writing a hymn about this place as we speak.
(5)Roy R.
Composite review. Been there on and off over the years. Outdoor seating, parking lot, easy access, well kept facility. Staff has been okay but as all these places are, variable depending on customer loading. Food is really just "okay" at best. They do not set themselves apart from other places except for the crazy large portions on the food. Indeed a couple of their sandwiches probably are about 2300 calories.... and one has to wonder why obesity is a public health emergency in the US? Large portions does not make a good eating place. Food was however okay, tasty enough but I suppose I am hunting for something a bit more unique anymore. Parking is lot, and safe. Many motels/hotels in the area. Convenient to shopping centers. Gets LOTS of business. f8 and be there.
(3)Mike C.
I've eaten here several times on my way to and from Michigan. The food is amazing, and the service has always been great. I love these sandwiches! The side of pickles is good, too. I always leave stuffed and yet wanting more very soon. I'm hooked for life.

Pitts burger is delicious. First time at a Pittsburgh location. Love this place and recommend it to everyone. They have Texas "Shiner Bock" beer here and it's open late. I haven't explored the menu but my only recommendation is to not get the a slaw, it's a little sour and doesn't make it taste "better" even though it's still delicious. *unless you REALLY like slaw. Then you should probably get it... Bro.
(4)Stuart D.
I think I made a big mistake. On a recent road trip, I was trying to identify places to stop to experience some of the more famous or dive places along the way. When considering Pittsburgh, I decided that I wanted to try Primanti Brothers and re-educated myself regarding the original location in the strip district. My mistake was figuring that the franchise locations that were more convenient to the trek would be a fine alternative. I was either wrong or the product is entirely too overhyped. We arrived after the lunch rush and we were quickly and cordially seated. Service was fine. I ordered the pastrami and cheese sandwich and my wife ordered the cajun chicken. Both sandwiches were fine, but I found myself realizing that the bread just wasn't very good, the meat was just so-so, the fries were too tough as if they had only been par-fried, and the slaw was just barely adequate. As that's pretty much every ingredient the revelation is that with just a couple ounces of effort, every ingredient could be improved upon just slightly and the sandwich would be amazing. As it was, I was already expecting 'amazing' and it just missed the mark. Perhaps some day I'll be able to head to the original location and experience something completely different, but I will do everything in my power to avoid the franchise locations.
(2)Santino A.
If you in Pittsburgh you must come to Primanti Bros. It's the best ever, hands down. The atmosphere is great and the food is awesome. I had the cheesesteak, slaw, and fries...
(5)Paul S.
How does one rate Pirmanti's? It's difficult having grown up in Pittsburgh. It's an icon - the sandwiches are great and unique. This particular location is pretty loud and tailored for folks wanting to get together and maybe bring the kids. Don't overlook the pizza -- really good. If you're looking for either a sandwich or pizza and a beer, Pirmanti's fits the bill.
(4)Russell R.
So, I have been seeing them for a while and finally stopped at a Parmanti Brothers. I was alone and sat in the bar at a table. I was wearing a white shirt and tie and this definitely was not a tie place. It is really the opposite. Now I thought flannel went out years ago along with frye boots and beards. Boy was I wrong. They are still alive and fashionable at the Parmanti Brothers Bar. Ok enough observations, I had Guinness since it is my favorite and really the only beer I enjoy. So there is the first good thing. Next what to order. I looked at appetizers but thought, no, not that hungry. Then I spotted what I wanted, a baked Italian. And let me tell you that Italian was perfect. Overflowing with lettuce and onions, flattened when it was cooked, the mixture of Italian Lunch, meats where heated perfectly. Add the right amount and mixture of olive oil and grease from the lunch meat and you have heaven on a crusty grinder role. And just when you thought you were in heaven it get better, you dip the tasty fries in yes, the local favorite Catsup, Hienz. Talk about perfection! Is there a better catsup? No, not anywhere! The waitress was good, very attentive. So all in all Parmanti Brothers, you do it up right! Thanks!
(5)Anthony F.
Great place to hang out and have an awesome sandwich! Nice sports bar vibe with Steelers memorabilia.
(5)Aaron C.
While in Pittsburgh we wanted to try something unique to the city. The sandwiches were good, but not the best I've had. Specifically, I was hoping for a bit more crunch to the sandwiches... more texture. The Cajun chicken sandwich wss the best of the bunch. Beer was cheap. That's a nice plus. Overall it was a fine spot for an informal lunch, but didn't live up to the hype I had heard.
(3)Jennifer M.
I know pramanti brothers is the big thing in this area but I just don't think the food is very good. During my last visit to this location, we were located by a windowsill. We picked up the ketchup and hundreds of ants started swarming the table. The manager gave us our meal for free but the waitress told us that sometimes they have that problem. Well...I won't be back.
(2)Kevin D.
I have never had a Primanti sandwich that I didn't enjoy. My first visit was to the Market Square location more than 10 years ago. I also used to frequent the original Strip shop back in the day. I had the Capicola with Cheese this afternoon on a visit to the Cranberry Twp location on a trip from Michigan to Maryland. Plenty of spice, but not enough to take away from the flavor of the slaw. I also finished the wife's Pitts-Burger, which kinda tasted like a Salisbury steak. Both were great! Wish the would expand nationally.
(5)Faith A.
If I have to go to a Primanti's, this will be the one I would go to. At least the staff is friendly here and they treat you kindly (Mt Lebo can take a lesson or twenty from the staff here). I usually use this location for work lunches to go as a few of my customers love them some Primanti's. It is nice that the suburb locations have a much fuller menu so if someone wants something slightly healthier, they have that option (Chicken salads are my go to here). If you want to experience a true Primanti Bros, I always say go to the Strip, but this is a great location for more of that casual restaurant vibe. If you are in Cranberry though, you can get your Primanti sandwich fix here.
(4)L K.
Food is good but the service is horrible. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant wasn't busy and the host sat us at a dirty table. He told me he would come and wipe it down but he never came back. When the waitress came, I politely explain that the host said the table would be wipe down and it was hell afterward. Waitress was not friendly to us like she was to the other parties dining nearby and she even yell at the host in front of us.
(2)Marty M.
Was excited to try but disappointed. Tried few different sandwiches and none were very good. I will just leave my review at that.
(2)Kim B.
I couldn't wait to try a sandwich at Primanti Brothers during my first trip to Pittsburgh. I love meat, coleslaw, french fries and bread so how could I go wrong here? I ordered a corned beef sandwich because I love me some corned beef. When it finally arrived and I took my first bite, I honestly thought I had better at Lucky's in Chicago. My sandwich consisted of bread and fries with barely any meat. I didn't like the coleslaw much either (I think they use sauerkraut?). I can't really complain much though because the price is hard to beat. Lunch for our group of 12 was less than $100.
(3)Todd B.
My wife and I ordered the pits-burger my son got the sicilian cheese steak. The food was awesome service was solid! If your in Pittsburgh I highly recommend this place! The sicilian cheese steak was the better off the two sandwiches imo. Both were good though.
(4)Lauren P.
I have to agree with other reviews on not being wow'ed. Same story visiting Pittsburgh and told to go here. The temperature with the cold coleslaw and hot fries is not for me. The bread taste more like cheap white bread. Service was good. Glad I came so I can say I tried but wouldn't come back.
(2)Esq. H.
For all the food you get piled onto these sandwiches I guess it's worth a stop considering the low price. Im not a fan of cole slaw so naturally I didn't care for there's, but people love it so stop by if you're a slaw fan. I got the turkey sandwich ....about 10% of my sandwich was turkey. There wasn't a lot of meat on it and the bread is not warm or toasted. In theory the sandwich is a large helping of cheap things to fill you up.....slaw, potatoes (fries), thick bread.....and a sliver of meat. The Cajun chicken was par at best, nothing worth repeating - it tasted like basic season salt with a baby spice kick at the end. Nice customer service. There's a mini arcade area if you're into that type of thing and a good number of flat screens in the dining (non bar) area.
(3)Food H.
Every thing is not healthy and frozen junk food . They have cheap drinks. The waitress are rude and not well educated about the menu. I will not go there again and i dont know why people like the food , junk food
(1)Amanda P.
These are nasty unless you're so drunk you'd eat anything. I'm not a local and I understand that this is some kind of Pittsburgh tradition...but ewww. Sandwiches with cole slaw and French fries on admittedly great bread that unfortunately turns to a slimy mess. The "steak" is some kind of ground meat-type slime square that I would expect to find in a third-world grade school cafeteria lunch program. Possibly safe for human consumption, but who would want to consume it? People are very nice. If you're not from Pittsburgh, you may have to try it once. But be warned....this may be a partial explanation as to why the locals weigh 300lbs by the time they are 16 years old.
(2)Robert H.
2nd time here in over a year. Yummy food. Corn beef and pastrami sandwich. Fatness in all its glory.
(5)Pete J.
I really love their burgers and pizza. The Primanti sandwiches of course are always good. I think however the pizza and burgers out shine the other items. I am giving 3 stars today just because of the slooooow kitchen today and as always slow service. This primanti's has always struggled with service. Too often they are slow to react and hands off. Great food however and some good waitstaff but too many slow, apathetic others.
(3)Will S.
A must visit while in the Pittsburgh area. The Cajun Chicken is a good choice with a side of cheese fries and a couple of cold beers. Very tasty...
(5)John V.
Decent selection, but these "almost famous" sandwiches were hardly worth coming back for. Coleslaw should.be made with mayo/miracle whip. The vineagar based slaw didnt have nearly enough flavor to suffice, the bland unsalted fries overpowered everything. Even after adding hot sauce and ketchup it didnt get any better. Must have to from Pittsburgh I guess... It was a huge letdown for me.
(2)Min Sae C.
Thank god these aren't near the DC area or I would be 300 lbs!!!! This place has everything I look for in a simple, straightforward food joint. I heard and saw the hype and this place still met my expectations. The 2nd best thing about this place are their great prices. Can't go wrong with a double meat sandwich with fries and slaw for under $10 bucks. I had the Black Angus steak sandwich with an added egg. Buddies had the Pitts-burger, corned beef and roast beef sandwiches. There wasn't much talking going on, just straight crushing of food. We immediately began going into our food coma's and barely made it out without ordering the entire menu. Yuppies, tree huggers, hipsters and uptight people may not fall in love with this place. That's fine with me, stay away and keep to your hipster coffee houses and horrible music. Real people should come to Primanti Bros and experience a real place with real people.......
(5)Amy C.
What's not to love! As a born and bread Pittsburgher, it doesn't get any better! The sandwiches rock! The wings are amazing! The pizza is even fantastic!
(5)Kevin K.
Ok, not great food, not great. Fries are always under done. Go to quaker steak and lube if you want a pittsburgh staple
(2)Mike P.
Being from out of area and reading these reviews, I am not impressed. I ate in one of these places years ago. I didn't like it then and it was tolerable this time. I was debating whether to go for sushi tonight or not. There are a few places around here for that. But when I came out of hotel, the traffic and rain turned me off from driving tonight. This place was in same parking lot as hotel so I ventured over here..... Mistake! I should have ventured into the rain and drove to have my sushi. I sat at the bar. I ordered a Yengling beer, it seemed to be flat coming out of tap. No head and bland flavor. I ordered wings which where surprising good. Hence I added a star for that. Garlic flavored. I ordered a pastrami sandwich which was all French fries. Very little pastrami. I think I could wait a few more years before I come into one if these restaurants again, I'm in town again tomorrow, guess I'm to venture out tomorrow for the sushi I should have had tonight. I will definitely pass by this place tomorrow!!!!!

Three letters to describe Primanti Bros & their sandwiches: O-M-G!!! After hearing people rave about their sandwiches and tell me it is a must do when I visit, we made it our first stop on our trip to da 'Burgh. With the Pens playing, the place was packed but we were able to grab two seats at the bar shortly after arrriving. The service was slow but there wasn't an empty seat in the place. We ordered some drinks, and split a pastrami sandwich and some wings. When the sandwich arrives, you look at it for a few moments, wondering how the hell you are going to get it into your mouth. But, after just one taste, all those worries are out the window & you simply just do not care. The combination of all those flavors swirl together in your mouth. I can't talk about this sandwich without craving one. The wings were fabulous - spicy just the way I like them - yet no bleu cheese. What was that about?!? :( We went back a second time before we left. We ordered the Roast Beef .. Not my favorite but still yummilicious. Not a day goes by that I don't reminisce about this sandwich. I less than three you Primanti Brothers.

So I was in town and stopped in here only because it was what everyone raved about as something I needed to do when in Pittsburgh and I had seen it on Man vs. Food. We ordered the Pitts-burger Cheesesteak and Cappicola and Egg. Now personally slaw, fries, and steak sounded good but tasting it was another story. I've done it and tried it they were okay but I don't need it again.

Awsome! Coming back with the kids next time we come through town!

What else can you say about Primanti Brothers? It's a great deal for the price. They have great food. The pizza is very good. The sandwiches are very good. Nice, casual atmosphere for watching sporting events. The waitstaff is very friendly and does a great job. I've been to this one dozens of times and never had a bad experience.
(5)Marvin K.
Haven't been to any of the other 6 million Primanti Bros. locations in Pittsburgh but this one is dy-no-mite!!!!!! Gave them a try while on a visit from Detroit and was blown away. I ordered the Sicilian Cheesesteak and the Bacon egg and cheese sandwich. I can honestly say that I've never experienced this kind of taste before anywhere. If your ever in Pittsburgh, you must visit this establishment.

After having a great sandwich at another Primanti's location, I decided to stop by this Primanti's on my way home to Upstate New York. Once again, I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar, was served promptly by the staff. I ordered a sweet sausage sandwich, which was extremely tasty and I felt was a wise choice. One cannot go wrong with Primanti's.

After watching Primanti being featured on the Food Network, I had to add this to my list of places to visit. So, while in Pittsburg today I stopped in to grab lunch. I walked right up to the bar and grabbed a seat. The bartender asked if it was my first time and I said "Yes". She then proceeded to explain the background, the sandwiches, and made a suggestion that I go with their signature sandwich - which of course I did. Around 5 minutes later, out comes my sandwich. Ok, I have to admit I had preconceptions about the sandwich - and not all good - as I've never had fries and coleslaw mixed into a sandwich. But I'll tell ya, after one bite I changed my mind. Dang, that's good! Please don't tell me how many carbs I took in by eating that whole sandwich. I don't want to know. But I'm glad I did. So what if I need to run 7 miles to work it off tomorrow!

As one who is not a Pittsburgh native, I've had to gain my appreciation for Primanti's over the course of numerous visits. I'll admit, my first impression was one of shock: "What kind of nonsense is this?!" A few Pitts-Burgers later, I became a fan. I now have regular cravings for the slaw and fries on my sandwich. Top it off with some hot sauce and you're good to go! My visits to this location have always been pleasant. I last stopped in for lunch. They quickly provided a booth seat, fast service, and a killer sandwich. I overheard the waitstaff greeting some of the customers by name and asking, "The usual today?" Kinda gives it that extra touch that you don't typically find at busy locations such as this. For the out-of-towners, Primanti Bros is a must stop. You can't find another meal that's got so much Pittsburgh wrapped up in it.

This Primanti Bros. location is light years different from the usual Strip District location we go to...but we had a gift card and the Strip doesn't accept them. Good thing I checked before we made our way out or we would have felt a little rut roh. The thing that makes the Strip location great is that it is 24-hours. We have been in there at 1AM. Don't judge. Also, the gritty atmosphere is quaint, although sometimes a touch disturbing with the dirty floors. You take the good with the bad, I guess. Anyway, we decided to head out to the Cranberry Township location, because it is the closest one to us (we live in the North Hills.) I'd been to the Harmarville location and liked it, but I didn't feel like driving up 28. I'd say this was one of the "neatest" and cleanest experiences at a P Bros. yet. And the suburban locations have more to their menu. They have PIZZA! I've tried their pizza in the past; it's not bad, but it's no Nanuet Hotel (in Nanuet, NY) pie. The Nanuet Pie is the pie to end all pies. Love their slaw, as it is vinegar based and not mayo-based. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which came with a mountain of fries and pickle. Topped the sandwich with the slaw, and took a bite. It was OK, could have used more sauce and the meat could have been more flavorful. But it wasn't chopped liver, either. Their fries were nice and crispy, and the o-rings were decently portioned, too. Bob did the corned beef, which I was secretly jealous he got because I love corned beef, but I cannot turn down a pulled pork sandwich. (The best I've had was homemade, by Bob's brother Pat!) Should have shared my fries, as there were enough for two people on my plate. I would hit up this location again.

since i am new to yelp i am catching up on some reviews for places i have been in the past year that were memorable good and bad. This location is one of the bad. Seeing the place on TV i wish i had taken the time to go to the original the food at this location was week as was the service the fries were limp the meat not plentiful or tasty the saving grace was the slaw. My wife ordered no tomato and got tomato did they remake no just took the tomato off. the iron city beer which i love was warm i guess you can't franchise everything.

Ok people, you don't go hear if you're on a diet and you don't go here for anything other than the sandwiches (at least the first time). Loved the Pastrami and Beef sandwich. This is the sort of place you go for inexpensive beer (at happy hour) and a meat sandwich (somone, somewhere must count the fries and coleslaw on top of the sandwich as vegtables). I could see this being the rowdy sort of place during a football game. It's also a place to go with a friend or two. It adds to the atmosphere. I still give some of the Deli's in NYC a star up on these guys, but this was really good. If you're not local, try them out on a trip.
(4)Andrew C.
Health food junkies, stay away. Everyone else... come check out the sandwich that everyone in Pittsburgh swears by. It's the best place to get a balanced (heh) meal, all on one plate! Pastrami, cheese, cole slaw, *and* french fries not just on the same plate, but between the same bun. My heart and cholesterol level might hate me, but gosh darnit it was tasty. They've got huge milkshakes and bottomless sodas/iced tea. The TVs usually have some kind of sports on. Oddly enough, they weren't showing World Cup games while I was there.
(4)Ann Marie D.
It seems like it shouldn't work: corned beef, provolone cheese, vinegar slaw, tomatoes, fries, added hot sauce all on sliced Italian bread, but it does. Maybe my favorite sandwich this year. I was only going to eat half, but...my bad I checked and it was gone. I hate it when that happens :)
(4)Greg E.
Primanti is very unique. I was happy to find this one had more options than just the sandwhiches but I ended up getting one anyway. Good food, lots of beer, and a great place to watch football. Definitely recommend it to you if you want some good bar food with everything but the kitchen sink on your sandwich.
(4)Melissa M.
Yummy wings and fried pickles! You must have one of their famous sandwiches. I love this place! The staff is a little young and immature which results in a lack of service. Other than that it's a must visit.

A Primanti's sandwich is an iconic image of Pittsburgh. I've been to the Oakland and Strip District locations which provide a more "original" feel, but the Cranberry location is the closest to my house and has its own unique perks. None more than the pizza - the white pizza is a favorite and always an appetizer before the sandwiches. The menu is much larger at suburban locations. As far as the sandwiches go, the cheese steak, cappicola, roast beef, pastrami, and corned beef are my fab five. You really can't go wrong with any of the sandwich choices. The slaw and fries are what people focus on but the meats play the main role for me. The slaw is vinegar based (not creamy and rich from mayo) and provides a fresh counterpoint to the heavier flavors of the meats and fries. I would try to describe the unique experience of eating one but 'Google images' probably does a better job. If you are going for your first time, don't expect frills, just manly food (voted Manliest Restaurant in America by Travel Channel and Men's Health). Sandwiches are served on paper plates, drinks in paper cups. The service is usually above paper-quality though, so don't expect some hole-in-the-wall either. The prices justify the 4 star rating -- the larger than life sandwiches are less than $7 and the 14" pizza is only $13. As an aside, there are copy-cats across the nation. In Chicago, Lucky's near Wrigley does a good imitation...but it's still an imitation.

Great place to go with a few friends for some good food and drinks. I never had a bad meal here, the sandwiches are amazing, as usual, and enormous. Steak salad awaesome, pizza great, nachos impossible to finish. Good beer selection, good service.
(5)Brian N.
John V had this perfectly . The cappacola with egg. Huge disappointment. Not enough meat or cheese (to expensive I suppose). Bland. The slaw and fries do nothing for the sandwich. It would be a "Try it once and never return" vote for me. And I rode from Cincinnati for this? Thank goodness it was a sweet ride and it was cool being around for the Pirates to win their first post-season game in 20+ years.

I am a life long Pittsburgh, but I had never been here. Finally, I have tried Primanti's, and yea, it was good. I was a bit skeptical: a sandwich with cole slaw and fries on it? Whaaa? So wrong. But when I was there I bypassed the gyros, pizza, and other "normal" options and decided to go big or go home. I got the Pittsburgher--steak with provolone. A few important things to know: THe cole slaw is NECESSARY to counteract the heat of the meat. It tastes fantastic on the sandwich. As for the fries--some are on the sandwich, but most are sort of sticking out and beneath it, so it's not hard to remove them and eat them separately (which, for the most part, I did). The remaining fries on the sandwich, though, were not bad tasting. It all sort of melts together into sandwich bliss. The Italian bread that the sandwich is served on is soft, which is perfect for squishing the sandwich so you can get it in your mouth! It sounds awful, yes. But it is so, so good. Go, have the Pittsburgher, and rejoice.

The restaurants that occupied this spot have changed some 3 or 4 times since my parents moved to Cranberry in '92, and I think they finally got it right with "Permannys" (said with the Pittsburghese accent). True, it's not THE original, and maybe a restaurant loses a little bit of its cred every time it opens a new location, but for those of us living up in the North Hills (and Cranberry is arguably north of the North Hills proper), this is a Godsend. I always get the original sandwich and I always love it. The atmosphere is loud and boisterous, and a great place to go and watch any Pittsburgh team game (esp. dem Stillers). I had to knock off a star, though, because parking is a bitch.

Apparently this place is a big deal around here. I do not see what the hype is all about. I ordered the cajun chicken sandwich which was super dry... ew. Also.... fries? In my sandwich? With slaw? In my head this would sound like a good concept, but in reality, no thank you. Everyone around the table had pretty much the same experience. The hyped-up pitts-burger was not that great and the fries were not seasoned that well. Overall the whole experience was kind of a mess (it didn't help that we were sitting outside and it was kind of windy). The only saving grace for Primanti's were the pierogies.... those were soooo tasty. I would have had an overall better dining experience at Panera.
(2)Doug G.
Highly overrated, but sometimes you're in the mood to eat crap. The bar staff is friendly and hard working.
(2)Juice M.
Of course they have classic sandwiches but they also have great pizza slice deal during Pens Games. And try the jalapeño poppers, the best around!

Stopped at Primanti's in Cranberry on the way from Chicago to Virginia. Had high expectations given all the hype on Food Network and Travel Channel, and was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews comparing it to Applebee's with really good sandwiches! All five of us thought they lived up to the hype. We split the pastrami, their special steak and the corned beef...the little guy had a kids pizza. Sandwiches were great, bread was fresh, loved the vinegar cole slaw and the signature fries on the sandwich! I only give it 4 stars for two reasons: 1) I like my fries a little more well done, but that is a matter of taste; and 2) My sandwich, which was sliced in half, had almost all the meat on one side. I ate the first side and was like, "this sandwich is awesome", but then was a bit disappointed when I dug into the second side and was like, "where's the beef"! All in all I thought they tasted great, they were unique, and the service was friendly. Special mention has to go again to the cole slaw...we could have ordered a bowl full and eatin' it with a fork it was so good. I can't wait to get back to Pittsburgh to try the original downtown!

If you ever find yourself in the Steel City, you must stop by the famous Primanti Brothers to taste a piece of Pittsburgh history - a sandwich stacked with the meat of your choice (fish and cheese combos are available for you vegetarians), cheese, coleslaw, tomatoes, and French fries...all for $5-7. What started as a trucker joint in the 1930s has developed into a full-fledged landmark for locals and visitors, and is often compared to Rutger's Grease Trucks. I was in Pittsburgh a few months ago and got to try a new item on the menu - the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The bread wasn't too crispy or soft (I'm picky on the texture of my bread), the chicken was grilled and saturated in Buffalo sauce and the blue cheese dressing (which I got on the side because I can't handle too much of that stuff) was the perfect complement. Everyone was happy with their choices, and sandwiches included the #2 best-seller item on the menu - the Pitts-burgher Cheese Steak (beer is the #1 best seller), fish, and capicola, and one strange friend dared to try a salad with a side of fries, and even she was pleased with the meal (if you think that pairing is weird, the next day at brunch someone ordered a salad and it unknowingly came with French fries on top...my friend and local culinary expert said they put French fries on everything out there). So next time you're near The 'Burgh, make a pit stop at a nearby Primanti Brothers...the only hard part is finding a way to squeeze all that deliciousness in your mouth.

Excellent! Stopped here by myself on a Friday afternoon for a bite. I really liked the food. If you are not an adventurous person when it comes to food, then the sandwiches with fries and slaw may not be to your liking, but the menu appears to have some other selections. The pizza at the table near me looked delicious. I had a sandwich, wings, and 2 beers that cost me less than $20. The sandwich was excellent and the wings were so-so. I will say that this place would be great if you need some drunk food. I stopped by here later that evening with some friends. There is a patio area where you can smoke. The patio area was mostly full as well as the bar area. The seats on the patio left a little more to be desired. They are metal stools with short backs. They are not comfortable at all.

3.5 stars Messy eats for sure. It took lots of effort to successfully eat my sandwich without making a mess (because it was about four inches tall, not because I am uncoordinated or inebriated). The pastrami sandwich was good. It was a bit weird eating a sandwich with fries and slaw in the center. I didn't care too much for the fries, but the slaw was awesome. Overall the sandwich was pretty decent. My coworker and I also had the chili cheese fries which we both did not care for at all. I only had two bites of it. Waste of money. I would recommend this place for the novelty of it all. The food isn't mind blowing, but you do get so much food for what you're paying,

We stopped in because I have been there once before years ago, the sandwiches are huge, I had the colossal fish. This sandwich was really good, the slaw on fish you might ask yourself, but it was exceptionally yummy, there was no need for tarter sauce or anything else, washing it down with a large draft really hit the spot. My wife had an Italian baked sandwich, and for her to say it was really good one of the best ever, trust me it was good. Once again the kids had spaghetti and chicken strips and both ate nearly everything, the kids had a choice of fries or fruit which was nice. So for about 35.00 including tip, you cannot go wrong, simply awesome!

I was recommended by almost every single person I met in Pittsburgh said that I have to do Primanti's before I left town. I gave it a shot, and enjoyed the concept, but was not blown away. It's just a bit overwhelming, and the mix of hot fries and burger with cold cole slaw is a tough one for me. At the end of the day, it was an experience worth it.

Ummm.... Eeeewww! Never again... That's all
(1)Adam K.
It's not the strip so the atmosphere is more standard restaurant. It's also very clean and the staff is friendly (also not like the Original). However I'm sure as they are becoming popular and opening up 20+ location they are becoming more mainstream. I loved the dirty blue collar greasy Original but if you need an alright alternative this wasn't bad. It is easy to get to and much closer to Zelienople.
(3)Mitch R.
I went there when I was staying next to the airport in Moon about six months ago. I ordered what everyone recommended, some steak sandwich and I was incredibly disappointed. I usually eat pretty healthy so if there is something really unhealthy that I have to try it better be good, it wasn't. The meat patty looked unappetizing and tasted very processed. I do have to say that I love the concept of everything on the sandwich though, fries and cole slaw. The bread was delicious and tasted like it was baked fresh. Maybe I'll have to go up another time and try something else. Everyone raves about this place so it must be for good reason...
(2)Jennifer W.
Oh boy, this idea of fries, cole slaw, tomatoes and provolone on all of the, "Almost Famous" sandwiches just scares me. So much in fact, I chickened out at the last minute when our fabulous server came to take our order. Everyone else at my table each selected a different variety of, "Almost Famous," I choose the less adventurous, but very delicious Sicilian Cheesesteak. I am oh- so- glad I ordered the Sicilian, because my family was less than impressed in the concoction on top of their what-could-have-been yummy sandwiches. The atmosphere, service and food quality was superb. Would I visit Primanti's again? Definitely.
(4)Julie D.
Long famous in the Strip District as "the place to go" after a late night drunken brawl, concert or party. The reputation follows it to suburbia. They are famous for crazy, big, fat sandwiches with the coleslaw and fries stuffed inside. Yes, I said inside the sandwich. I personally love the ham, egg and cheese. Other items on the menu include huge salads, crostini sandwiches, pasta dishes and pizza. I also like the yummy Buffalo chicken sandwich. Servers as fun, just like the food. Bring an appetite.
(5)Darin A.
I could eat here every day of my life and it would never grow old. I prefer the more "authentic" locations down town but when I need to pick a place for a business lunch and they have never been to the city...this is the spot. I love the slice of pizza with my sandwich for an extra buck. EAT HERE!
(5)Blaise S.
Even being from out of town, I had heard of Primanti Bros and their coleslaw/fries burgers. Not a slaw fan, but anytime you're at a place with the local food flavor you gotta give it a try. This is the second Primanti Bros I've been to, and I really liked it's setup. We were staying at the Hilton Inn right next door, so maybe I am a bit biased because I was able to drink there and walk about 23 seconds home, but it's a great sports bar in the area too. Got in on a Sunday night and watched the Steelers game to a packed bar with everyone sporting their Polamalu jerseys cheering with every play. Gotta love a town that loves their team that much. They have happy hour specials, always a plus. And the locals suggested a shot to me which I regret to this day, but I'm happy I gave it a shot. Jager shaker, just like a jager bomb only you drop the Bailey's into a glass full of root beer and jager. Not the best tasting, but hey, when in Rome... I imagine this would be a great place for lunch, and I surely had a good time here the numerous nights we were watching either the Steelers win or the Pirates lose. The servers were friendly and quick to serve, and the outside patio was cozy as well.

When I was in college, we went to the Strip District Primanti's but now when I go home to visit I usually end up at a suburban location. This location is the best I've been to! The big wooden boothes are comfortable, the atmosphere is fun, and most importantly, the sandwiches are just as tasty as the downtown ones :)
(5)Andrew E.
Any Primanti Bros is a must go when in Pittsburgh! I love the corned beef sandwich or the pastrami. Over the lunch hour, at least the one in Robinson Twp offers pizza slices for buck! All I need to say is, grab an Iron City or I.C. Light, a sammich and dig in!

Lesson Learned. I am new to yelp and got a little crazy with my initial reviews. Honestly hadn't been to Primantis in about a year. But by frequenting there establishment so often, I felt strongly about my previous review. Boy was I wrong. My husband and I went to Primantis for the Penguins game last weekend and they have definitely changed some things. ALL brand new Flat screen HDTV's everywhere!! Also have the outdoor area which is screened in and heated for us smokers out there. Two big flat screen tv's hang outside to enjoy the games too!! What a change. Obviously Primanti's was paying attention to customer concerns and quickly changed them......What a great place to go and have great food, Pittsburgh Style!! and enjoy the games!! Also, they have removed the Primanti beer from the menu due to not selling enough to keep it going.....too bad b/c I thought it was a great change up!! Anyways, if you are in Cranberry or anywhere in PGH for that matter you MUST go to Primanti's!! Enjoy!
